It’s that time of year again to relax and spend time with family and friends. As such we’re breaking for the year and we’ll be back again early next year.
We’ve been working on finishing that update with the new vehicles and city district but unfortunately after being slowed down by some little technical hitches we weren’t able to get it ready before the end of the year. Look for it to come early next year soon after we come back.
So until then happy holidays, thanks for reading, and we’ll see you in the new year! –David
Season’s greetings to you all. The holidays are here and we’re all looking forward to spending time with family and friends.
We’ve had a fairly busy year. We’ve talked a lot about the city’s environment and its inhabitants. We’ve shown off the now almost complete new district and several faction vehicles. We’ve struggled a little with personnel issues that have slowed our progress more than we’d like, but we’ve soldiered on to get things done.
For now though we’re taking a break for the holidays, so no updates for the next few weeks.
That’s all for this year. We’ll be back again in 2016! Till then, happy holidays from all of us at Dancing Dinosaur Games!
So since tomorrow is Good Friday, and thus a public holiday, you get to enjoy your Friday update a day early! Also it means that we’re taking a short break next week to spend time with our families and such. Thanks to everyone who came and checked out Collateral at iFest.
Thanks for reading, and remember to share your chocolate. Don’t be like Bruce. –David
2014 has come and gone and while we’ve had both highs and lows, overall it has been a good year for Dancing Dinosaur Games. We exhibited at AVCon and PAX Aus, and we got to meet many of you at those events. Our Greenlight campaign was successful, and we’ve launched Collateral on Steam Early Access.
Collateral has changed a lot this year as well. We’ve added more missions, more than doubled the city’s area, added several new weapons and upgrades, and learned a lot from your feedback to help improve things for our next iteration.
We hope you’re all enjoying the Steam sales. Remember, people love getting games as gifts on Steam, so consider giving a gaming friend the gift of Collateral for Christmas.
And with Christmas just around the corner it’s time for us to take a short break. We’ll be closing up shop for the year and coming back early January, so don’t expect any updates for the next few weeks.
Happy Holidays everyone and we’ll see you in the new year! –David
We’ve been Greenlit!
YAY! WOO! We can’t thank you all enough. Really, we can’t, so I’m only going to try once. Thank you to everyone that voted for us, everyone who asked their friends to vote for us, everyone who forced their friends to vote for us, and everyone else who contributed to the process who doesn’t feel adequately thanked enough. We couldn’t have done it without you.
This is just a celebratory shout-out to let you all know it happened, so we’ll be back with more news on Friday.
MORE YAY! –David
So, as the chocolate-and-egg-themed holiday approaches we’ve decided that in order to safely endure the inevitable sugar-fueled food comas that will follow, and likely prevent us from creating decent quality work, we’re going to take the next week off. As it happens, next week is a 3-day week in Australia anyway because Monday is Easter Monday and Friday is ANZAC Day. So yeah, we’re basically combining 2 long weekends into one super-massive weekend…or just a short holiday. In either case, there will be no update next Friday but we’ll be back the following week.
In the meantime, we hope you all have a wonderful holiday break yourselves (however long or short it may be for each of you) and we’ll be back soon!
Thanks for reading! –David
Holiday greetings, one and all, it’s that time of year again and we’re happily still operating for another year. With that said, this will be our last post for 2013 as we’ll be taking a break over Christmas, and be back in January to get back to work for another year.
So with that little update out of the way, we’d like to extend a thank you to everybody that has taken the time to visit the site every week and spreading the news to all who care. It’s thanks to you all we manage to reach our Kickstarter goal, and COLLATERAL is well on it’s way to get onto Steam. Without your help we’d… probably still be doing this, but not feeling very confident about it.
Again, thank you and have a happy new year. –Mark
How quickly a month goes by when you have a timer counting down. A month ago we started our Kickstarter campaign to raise $15,000 and as of this morning we have managed to raise $16,057!
Thank you to everyone who backed us, spread the word about us, or who have generally tolerated us spending most of the past month trying to convince them to do one or both of the above. You are all awesome.
Now that the campaign has run its course we’re back to focusing all of that attention on Collateral and getting it ready for our early access backers. We’ll keep you posted as we make progress on that.
Also, we’ve started looking at PayPal options so that anyone who missed out on pledging during the Kickstarter can still pledge towards the same (or very similar) non-limited tiers. We’ll give you more information as we sort out the details.
Again, a massive thank you to everyone who has supported us.
–All of us at DDG
Greetings one and all from the crew at Dancing Dinosaur Games. I’m here to inform everybody of our up and coming Kickstarter campaign which everybody in the office is busy at work getting prepared for. It’s not live at this moment, but we’ll certainly be letting everybody know when it is, and it is happening. Very exciting stuff.
Game development wise, the programmers have been busy developing new missions and a new weapon editor. As of writing we now have racing missions in Collateral. Can’t have a car game without racing missions, and the new weapon editor will provide people with a way to create new weapons or customize existing ones.
In other news everybody here is going to be taking a break for the holidays, so there won’t be an update from us next week. So taking that into account, here’s a special little number from yours truly.
Enjoy your holiday… if you get one. -Mark
Greetings one and all for the final Dancing Dinosaur Games update for 2012 (and possibly last one ever if the Mayans are right) as we’re going to take a two week break.
In the mean time we’re still working hard, working towards our next milestone and our impending release of Collateral next year.
In the mean time we’ve got Rob and Lachlan busy getting some pedestrians walking around the city, giving it more life… that you can destroy. There are a couple of stress tests that have to be done before we can properly implement it into the game, but it’s coming along well.
David’s sorting out the factions and vehicle combat behavior, in an attempt to make them “less stupid”.
Me, I’m progressing onward making more upgrades that you can buy for the cab to make it a veritable flying tank. So that’ll produce some fun (or at the very least epic looking) toys for the player to use.
So to wrap up, happy holidays and we’ll be back next year! – Mark
